Why register as a nursing professional with CNS?

CNS has spent over 6 years forming strong relationships with hospitals and facilities Nationwide. Facilities contact CNS regularly requesting Healthcare professionals for various contracts. Our professionals also gain:

How do I register with CNS?

To register, you must be a graduate of an accredited healthcare professional program in the United States or Canada. We have programs available both for nursing professionals with ten or more months of clinical experience. In fact, our program can help you prepare to become a traveler in the shortest amount of time. You will also need to provide a valid professional practice license or certification, and proof of the right to work in the United States.

Am I under any obligation after submitting my profile?

Absolutely not. Your profile is simply used to match you with a contract if and when you decide you're ready to go. Once you become registered, there will always be an exciting travel nurse contract waiting for you.

How long are most contracts?

Most of Critical Nurse Staffing, Inc. contracts are 4 - 13 weeks in length, however, we may be able to customize the length of a contract to meet your needs.

What types of contracts are available?

We have a wide spectrum of contracts available! We have positions available in large inner-city hospitals to small-rural hospitals. If we do not have the type of contract you are looking for, let us know and we will find one specifically for you.

How do I choose a contract?

Once CNS has reviewed your profile and skills, you and your career manager will discuss what you desire from a travel contract. Then you will be presented with available contracts based on your position and shift preferences. You will also be given a complete description of the facility, unit, and area. Together, you choose the contract that's right for you. It's always your choice.

What happens after I choose a contract?

A copy of your paperwork with your selected start date, unit, and shift will be sent to the facility for their review, along with a time for the facility to call you for a telephone interview. Prior to the interview, it's a good idea to prepare a list of any questions you may have about the unit in which you'll be working. It is important to us that you feel comfortable with your contract from the very beginning.

How long will it take to be approved and placed on a contract?

This depends on you and how quickly you wish to begin. You could begin your first contract within one week or 4 to 6 weeks. Some travelers schedule their contracts 6 months in advance.

How will Critical Nurse Staffing, Inc. prepare me for my contract?

Once you have decided on the contract that's right for you, your career manager will confirm your start date, shift and unit. You will also receive a confirmation package in the mail with information pertaining to your contract. 

What about licensing information?

Your career manager will advise you on the specific requirements in each state and the length of time necessary to obtain a license in the state you have chosen to take a contract. In some states, the procedure is lengthy, so you will need to plan ahead. For more information, visit our licensing information section.

What happens at the end of a contract?

After you have finished your contract, you will have the option to: Extend your contract, travel to another exciting destination, or return home, perhaps to travel again at a later date.

Can I travel with a friend?

We encourage it! Traveling with another healthcare professional, spouse, or any close friend will allow you to share the experiences of a lifetime.

How do I know what contracts are available?

Contract Managers are working daily find contract work for you. One of the largest advantages of working through CNS is the constant flow of work! We not only have strong relationships with Employers who need your services, we are also working to secure new Employers and Facilities on a daily basis. We're constantly growing, and so are our professional contract opportunities.

Travel Nursing seems a little overwhelming, I don't know if it's right for me?
